Windows XP on SSD
possible ? Any side
I have been searching and searching forums for weeks now and am
getting very frustrated. I have a new build with Windows 7 64 bit. I
have an Intel SataIII 120 GB that runs Windows 7. The drive is
connected to the integrated controller on the Gigabyte z68xp ud3 mobo
and in the bios the Sata port is set to ACHI. I have no problems
installing Windows 7 to the drive, however, Windows 7 does not
recognize the drive as an SSD (since the drive shows up as an option
to defrag). I have two HDD's which operate in RAID issues
there but just wanted to note it (they are on a separate Marvell
Controller). Also I have the optical drive on the same controller as
the SSD.
I placed an order for a Seagate Momentus XT ST750LX003 750GB 7200 RPM
32MB Cache 2.5" SATA 6.0Gb/s Solid State Hybrid Drive and a second
order for a Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal
Solid State Drive (SSD). The next day I checked my orders and found
that for some reason Neweeg had cloned the order for the Hybrid drive
and had not recognized my SSD order.... well I did get an email today
(two days later) that the SSD was still in my shopping cart, yet when
I log in it isn't. So, Im guessing it's a website glitch but now that
I am here in this situation it has me thinking....
I am now
planning to keep both Hybrid drives and try them in Raid 0. I am
I am replacing my current 16GB mini pcie SSD with a new
64GB SSD. My XP netbook (Asus Eee PC S101 does not have an DVD slot
and I dont have an external model either. My OS and softward was
installed directly onto the original SSD so no back up discs... I cant
find a suitable docking station to do the job. Can anyone explain in
simple terms what I need to do to solve this please. I have the
ability to do the SSD change myself and have already practiced
(removed the existing 16GB card once) but dont understand the software
reinstallation requirements.
I'd like to know how to do a clean install windows 7 on a
new ssd if its already on old ssd and you do not have a boot disk?
Hey community,
I have a 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD and am planning
this christmas to buy another then Raid them. The problem is I have
my Windows 7 on my SSD, it is my boot drive. How might i go upon
RAIDing the 2 together. Would it wipe out my Windows? or would it
just add space to my drive?
please help ---is you can-----computer always asks which windows
system want to use---want the older one gone------can this be done
safely without messing up the new windows that I have on the HDD---
