One of the great things about Linux is that you can do the same thing hundreds of different ways—even something as simple as generating a random password can be accomplished with dozens of different commands. Here’s 10 ways you can do it.
We gathered all of these commands from Command-Line Fu and tested them out on our own Linux PC to make sure they work. You should be able to use at least some of these on Windows with Cygwin installed, though we didn’t test all of them—the last one definitely works though.

My question is, that I'm not sure how to get this done. I have an idea though... but I'm not sure if it is a good way to do this. My idea was to generate at random, the corresponding decimal ASCII codes for the characters, and then use a static cast to make them type char. In doing so, they will be converted to characters... (right?) Well, that's my understanding of how that works, will that idea wor

Generate Random and Print List on 1 Line !! $ !!
Linux

Hello All!! I have an assignement that I am working on and for some reason I cannot for the life of me recall how to do something so simple lol.

The directions are too "Write a function named Exam, which takes one argument n where n>2. Your function creates a list (list1) of n random integers in range (1,5) and print all elements of list1 on one line.

So far what I have is :

def Exam(n): import random random.randrange(1,5)

I am not sure where to insert the n>2 and even really what it means. If anyone can assist or give hint. It would be appreciated!!

Thanks

Add on!! Okay now I have this code:

thanks in advance for your help. I'm hoping that someone can take a second to help me learn.

Will this PHP code generate a truly random password?
Linux

I wrote this code to generate a random password.

$s =
"abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789";
$len = strlen($s);
$m = '';

for ($i = 0; $i < $length; $i ++) {
    $m .= $s[mt_rand(0, $len -1)];
}

return $m;

Is the returned password truly random?
