I have a backup of my /usr/ /var/ directories.
They are in .tar.gz format.
I was wondering how I replace my
/usr/ directory with what I have on my system without losing any
files, just adding/replacing.

Im new to linux and these threads have helped me out a great deal to
installing APT-Get on my SuSE 9.1 box to putting UT2004 on it and
having a blast. But I have never sucessfully installed a Tarball, I
always get some sort of error that doesnt let me get through the
