Ze SDL way to do multimedia programming

The Simple DirectMedia Layer (SDL) library allows for manageable multimedia programming in console mode. Now you can mix graphics, animated or otherwise, with sound and make your game project more interesting. I am showing an example for Dev-C++ using math generated graphics, purloined from the NET, and give some instructions where to get SDL and how to install it properly.

Let's talk about the SDL. http://libsdl.org
Who on these boards uses it? It's good by itself and adding Direct X or OGL to it makes it 100x more powerful.
Programming with SDL
C & C++ & C#
I'm a beginner, I couldn't find any SDL forums, so I came here for help.
I can code a simple window, and handle simple mouse clicks and key hits, but that's it. I haven't found any tutorials that talk about anything other than displaying graphics or rendering windows and getting mouse clicks. I also looked in the SDL references.
What I want to do is make simple applications, such as a text editor, but I have absolutely no idea how to put text boxes or buttons in the program. Another problem is icons, I can put an icon in the window it self, but not as the .exe icon, as you would do with resources and such.

Hi All,

I have a doubt regarding SDL programming.

Can some one please help me how can i subdivide a Image lets say into 4 parts and then store them in SDL_Surface array.

I intend to animate later using these subdivided images by using SDL_BlitSurface function.

I am new to SDL,so it would be great if someone could provide some codes for reference.

Please note that i am using Microsoft visual c++ 2010 compiler..

Thanks

Jatin

SDL - opengl programming problem
C & C++ & C#
I'm just learning SDL/Opengl and working through the "Redbook" and rewriting them using SDL rather then GLUT. In the example (changed slightly) I'm doing I have an interesting problem with the Translatef command if it is included I get a blank screen. If it is not I get some output, not all correctly of course as I need it to get it to display correctly. Please see below. Any help much appreciated as to why. GLUT works perfectly.
Code:
#include <GL/gl.h>
#include <GL/glu.h>
#include "SDL.h"
#include <stdlib.h>
