ZIP code + 4 validation using graphs



Hello,

I have to create a graph based program that will validate a zip code given an expression to match eg. ddddd - dddd, where d is a digit 0 - 9. I am new to graphs and don't know how to accomplish this. I'm trying to make graph class, and this is what I have so far using my textbook as a guide. Any help would be appreciated: Thank you.

Anyone evey written a function to validate for a canadian or US zipcode being entered? I'm trying to see if I can find one already on the web to mix up with a US zip code to make a single useful function...

I have been trying to get javascript to work for this but no luck. What I am needing is: I have a drop down box for a person to select COUNTRY either US or Canadian. If it is US then I need a zip code box to display and validate zip for US. If they select Canada I need the same box to validate for Canadian zip code. Any ideas or help with this would be very much appreciated. Can this be done in .asp? If not I can send the javascript code that I can't get to work if that would help.

Regex validation for ZIP codes

I'm quite new to regex and trying to write a regular expression that matches the ZIP codes in each state, but having a hard time. As an example, Alaska has ZIP codes between 99501 and 99950, but this doesn't work:

99(5|6|7|8|9)(0|1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9)(0|1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9)

because it also matches 99951. Anyone done this already, or mind helping me out with at least the pattern for this? Here are the ZIP code ranges for each state.
