How to configure hibernate-tools with maven to generate hibernate.cfg.xml, *.hbm.xml, POJOs and DAOs

can any one tell me how to force maven to precede mapping .hbm.xml
files in the automatically generated hibernate.cfg.xml file with
package path?

My general idea is, I'd like to use
hibernate-tools via maven to generate the persistence layer for my
application. So, I need the hibernate.cfg.xml, then all
my_table_names.hbm.xml and at the end the POJO's generated. Yet, the
hbm2java goal won't work as I put *.hbm.xml files into
the src/main/resources/package/path/ folder but
hbm2cfgxml specifies the mapping files only by table
name, i.e.:

<mapping resource="MyTableName.hbm.xml"
/>

I'm using hibernate tools under Eclipse Indigo. The Hibernate
Console has Annotations option selected and hibernate version is 4.0.

The hibernate tools wizard generates annotations only
when I choose Generate EJB3 Annotations option. This introduces a
dependency on EJB, and I don't want it.

How do I convince
Hibernate tools to generate POJOs (via reverse engineering) that uses
plain (non jpa) hibernate annotations?

I have a hibernate.cfg.xml with the JDBC Url configured
thus:

<property
name="hibernate.connection.url">jdbc:mysql://${server.hostname}:3306/dsm?zeroDateTimeBehavior=convertToNull&jdbcCompliantTruncation=true&autoReconnect=true</property> />

Those & are required (instead of just &) in
order to avoid the exception: The reference to entity
"jdbcCompliantTruncation" must end with the ';' delimiter.

In order to be able to select a different target databases via
Maven, I would like to change this to:

<property
name="hibernate.connection.url">${jdbc.url}</pr

My client asked the posibility to switch from a c# app from the
"CURRENT" database to a TEST database or DEV database.
Only one
can be active at a time. In a menu file she choose DEV or TEST
database.

How do I configure hibernate.cfg.xml file to
have more connection strings like app.config.

What's the best/easiest way to generate *.hbm.xml files from
pojos?

I am trying to configure the hibernate.cfg.xml file to use
memcache. I see the properties
"cache.provider_class" and
"cache.use_second_level_cache" however I do not see how I can add the
server host/port.
