How to do dynamic URL Rewriting in J2EE

Back in my ASP.NET days, I used URLRewriter.NET to do dynamic URL Rewrites. Basically, it's an HTTPModule that intercepts page requests and rewrites the URLs according to rules that you define, very similar to MOD_REWRITE. However, it also lets you define a "Custom Transform," a class with a single method that does URL translations for you on-the-fly. You can have this method hit the DB, access the Application[] collection, pretty much do anything your heart desires.

Is there any equivalent to this in the J2EE world? I want to be able to rewrite URLs dynamically and delegate this rewriting to some Java code. I do NOT want to just set up a list of static rewrites

What are the ways of dynamic url rewriting in iis, asp.net web page.
I know one of them is to add rules into config dynamically, but that has some disadventages...

I'm new to URlRewriting and I've been having some problems rewriting my URLs, I have one single .php index page in which the content is filled using php depending on the url variables.

My problem is that I cannot seem to find the correct expressions to get it working.
For my homepage I'm only sending out 1 variable like

"index.php?page=home"

BUT for other pages I'm using up to 4 variables like "index.php?page=about&content=about-news&id=27&pn=1"

Now I got as far as getting 1 or 2 working seperately but not together using:

RewriteRule ^((.*)+)$ index.php?pa
Dynamic URL Rewriting with IIS6

I've been tasked with making an already existing e-commerce site SE friendly - which in this case means (amongst other things) letting the user change the URL for each page/product through the back end.

The site is an old asp site running on IIS6. I've started looking into http://www.codeplex.com/IIRF and http://www.helicontech.com/isapi_rewrite/ , but I'm a bit dubious about how to let the user change the URLS without them going into the server and hard coding them.

Ionic's Isapi Rewrite Filter runs from a .ini file, so I'm thinking that I will get the back end of the site to write to this ini file based on form inputs.

Dynamic URL Rewriting

Hello!
I'm trying to figure out a way to dynamically redirect a page to a new one based on the value of the query string. I am unfortunately not very well-versed in url rewriting.
Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:
www.example.com/foo/bar
redirects to
www.example.com/foo?x=bar
where 'foo' is a folder on the root of the site. the content on the page 'foo/index.html' is dynamically generated from an xml file based on the value of the query string.
Is something like this even possible?
