List of all columns from syscolumns for a particular table along with the isprimarykey column in sys.indexes table
Databases

I am trying to get the list of all the columns for a particular table along with the datatype and the is_primary_key column from sys.indexes table. But i am not able to get the is_primary_key column correctly. I want the is_primary_key to be set to 1 only for the column which is the primary key of the table. This is set to 1 for all the columns

Below is the query which i am using

select distinct c.name,c.system_type_id,is_primary_key from sys.columns c
inner join sys.tables t on c.object_id=t.object_id
inner join sys.index_columns ic on ic.column_id=c.column_id
inner join sys.indexes i on i.index_id=ic.index_id

How can i join sys.columns of view to sys.columns of the table it is referencing in T-SQL?
Databases

I am trying to join records in sys.columns for a view, to the records in sys.columns for the table it is referencing, because i need the values of is_nullable, is_computed and default_object_id columns for the columns that are selected in the view.

The sys.columns records for the view have "incorrect" values, which you can observe by running the example queries below:

CREATE TABLE TestTable (
FieldA int NOT NULL,
FieldB int DEFAULT (1),
FieldC as CONVERT(INT, FieldA + FieldB),
FieldD int NOT NULL
)
GO
CREATE VIEW TestView WITH SCHEMABINDING AS
SELECT FieldA, FieldC as TestC,
How does the column system table (sys.columns, sys.all_columns, etc.) describe itself?
Databases

I noticed in SQL Server 2008 that the sys.all_columns table includes its own columns. Hows is that possible? It seems like a chicken/egg problem -- how can SQL Server determine the columns of sys.all_columns without first reading sys.all_columns, which requires knowing what the columns of that table are?

Also, is this common? Do other database systems do this?

Strange Values in SYS.DM_TRAN_LOCKS table RESOURCE_ASSOCIATED_ENTITY_ID column
Databases

I’ve been trying to understand some strange values in the RESOURCE_ASSOCIATED_ENTITY_ID column of SYS.DM_TRAN_LOCKS when RESOURCE_TYPE is “OBJECT”. Although these should be object Ids, I cannot determine what object they actually refer to.

I’ve tried everything I can think of, including querying all system tables with columns of type INT and BIGINT to see if I can find the value. No luck. The funny values actually appear in SYS.DM_TRAN_LOCKS, SYS.SYSLOCKINFO and SP_LOCK.

what to do if foreign key table column doesn't match the parent table column being referred to in oracle + yii framework?
Databases

I have two tables, Table A and Table B.

Now table A has A.id and B has B.id whereby B.id is the foreign key to link with A.id

Now my problem is, A has A.extraid that "HAS" many rows in B wherein the column name is B.notsamextraid. In other words, the values of B.notsamextraid matches the values of A.extraid

What should I do in order to have Yii match these two columns wherein they both have different names ?

(I am not authorize to alter the name of B.notsamextraid into B.extraid)
