Microsoft Edge is not only the default web browser in Windows
10 but also the default PDF reader. This is definitely a good thing as
we can finally view PDF files without having to install third-party
apps, but it’s more of a basic PDF reader.

Hi forum! I hope someone can help me figure this out, because I've
done everything that I can think to do and I still can't make it
work. I really prefer Foxit reader over Evince for various reasons
and want to make Foxit my default reader for everything. I use the
Firefox addon Zotero to manage my dissertation research and the
mountains of PDF files I've collected. I would like these to open
with Foxit rather than Evince. Here are the steps that I've taken
and their outcomes:
1. Right-clicked on a PDF on my desktop,
selected properties, and changed the Open With option to Foxit. />2. Edited some stuff, like so:
/usr/share/applications
Ubuntu
I somehow installed Adobe Reader on my UNR netbook (don't actually
recall doing this though), and it made itself the default PDF
reader.
Now I want to change the default PDF reader back to the
unbloated Document Viewer. But when I right-click a PDF file, select
Open With, select Document Viewer, and check "Remember this app
for PDF...", it never remembers.
Any idea why UNR isn't
remembering this setting? Is there a permissions issue? Any
suggestions for solving it appreciated!
Ubuntu
hi there
I'm new to Ubuntu, and I just installed Okular but the
pdf files are still opened with the DocumentViewr. At right click,
I've choosed open with..Okular and checked "Remember this
application for PDF document", but no positive result.
Can
you advice me how to choose which is the default application for
pdf(or any other file type, as a general rule)?
Ubuntu
Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit, fully-updated.
If I right-click a PDF
document, the default shows Evince, while I have the options to choose
Adobe Reader and others:
Attachment 230245
But if I try to
set the default, I can't. See the dialogue:
Attachment 230244 />How do I get Adobe Reader onto the Properties > Open With
dialogue?
Ubuntu
Hi, everybody
I have adobe reader IX installed but I can't
directly open any pdf files with it. When I right click a pdf >
open with > show other applications, adobe isn't listed as an
option.
I can open adobe reader and go into File > open... and
select a pdf but it's getting annoying. At the moment pdf default
reader is the ubuntu Document Reader programme which is o.k for quick
reads but for study I need adobe reader.
Does anyone know how I
can set adobe as default?
Thanks
Ubuntu
