I have a lot of elements in my XAML code that i need to switch between visible and collapsed in my main code...

I have tried to create a parent of type StackPanel for all those elements. But now it messes up all the child element positions (it scatters them all over the place).

Is there any way to set that the parent does not control the position of the child and only controls the Visibility property... Or is there any other type of element used for parenting and grouping ?

Custom Right Aligned StackPanel control layout in Silverlight
Web Development

I'm trying to create a custom layout container, with the same characteristics of StackPanel, with the exception that it lays out the items starting at the right edge of the screen. Needless to say it does not work correctly.

I have identified a flaw inside ArrangeOverride() where the line

Point elementOrigin = new Point(this.DesiredSize.Width, 0);

simply creates a point @ 0, 0. In other words this.DesiredSize.Width = 0. I understand that the measuring step happens before the arranging step, so I would expect this control will have the DesiredSize property set. How could I start rendering from the right side of the

WPF layout issue with nested StackPanel straying outside parent StackPanel
Web Development

I have a horizontal StackPanel with an image and another StackPanel. The inner StackPanel is vertical with two TextBlocks both of which have TextWrapping set to Wrap. However when the text gets wide the inner StackPanel increases in width so that the TextBlocks don't wrap. The outer StackPanel is staying with the grid layout space it has been given. How can I make the inner StackPanel stay within the bounds of the outer StackPanel?

Here's the relevant section of XAML:

<StackPanel Name="_imageAndNameStackPanel"
Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" Grid.ColumnSpan="3"
Orientation="Horizontal" Margin="12,
