Error when saving ObjectContext after replacing Parent item and linking Child item to it

In my application, the interface allows the user to create and delete entities in an Entity Framework model. All changes are added to the ObjectContext, and saved only when the user selects "Save".

My question is best asked by means of the following simple example:

I have a Foreign Key relation between two entity types, which I will call Parent and Child here. The database, in SQLite, is declared as follows:

CREATE TABLE Parents (ID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY);
CREATE TABLE Children (ID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY,
ParentID INTEGER NOT NULL CONSTRAINT FK_Chi

I'm very new to javascript and jQuery and I can't seem to figure this out on my own.

I'm having trouble figuring out these 2 things:

Make it so the background of the parent items stay blue when the cursor moves to a child item below them.

When someone clicks on a child item and goes to that page, the parent item text stays highlighted to indicate which section of the site the u

How to keep the hover for Parent menu and set the selected menu item css for child menu item?
Coding

I'm using cssfriendly control adapter for menu. My asp.net menu control's data source is a sitemap file I'm using which contains all the urls.

I have the following questions:

Is there a way to keep the parent menu item hovered while hovering over the respective child menu items?

Is there a way to keep the child menu item selected? I am able to set the css for the parent menu, however I was wondering if the same is possible with the child items.

Best restfull way to create a child item from parent item?

As a newbie, I have been searching around for THE best practice to create a child item when displaying a parent item. I found many explanations, rather incomplete and not evident to me. Can some one describe the complete implementation of the best practice ?
I created parent_item and child_item models includind has_many and belongs_to declarations.
I can list linked child_items (manually created) in the parent_item "show" view.

Now I'd like to create a <%= link_to 'New Child Item', new_child_item_path %> passing parent's id as a parameter in the URL.

Superfish Menu - Last Child Item Not Aligning With Parent Menu Item
Coding
If you go here and hover Practices>Estate Planning>10 Reasons...
Youll notice that the background arrow image is a little low--I cant seem to find a way to move it without it disappearing!
Also, the "10 Reasons..." line item is below where I would like for it to be. I would like for it to appear right next to its parent item, Estate Planning, but not sure where to find the area to fix that (obviously in the superfish.css, but Im rather confused as to WHERE to edit the positioning of this item).
A fresh set of eyes would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
