Login failed for user “xxx” Failed to open the explicitly specified database solution
Databases

Im using entity framework code first. When starting the application the application tries to create the database on SQLServer2008R2.

The error message that I'm receiving is:

"Login failed for user "NT instansNetworkservice" Failed to open the explicitly specified database"

After looking more carefully at the problem in the SQLServer log i can see that the error code is: 18456 severity 14 with state 38.
Read about it on: http://sql-articles.com/articles/troubleshooting/troubleshooting-login-failed-error-18456/

Do anybody have a idea how to solve this problem?

connection to database “dbname” failed: FATAL: password authentication failed for user “postgres”
Databases

I created postgres db, import backup, now I want to make new backup from postgres db. This is commands, I had used:

createdb -U user dbname
psql -U user -f "C:Program FilesPostgreSQL9.2inimportimport.backup" dbname
pg_dump -U user -f "C:Program FilesPostgreSQL9.2inackupsobd.backup" dbname

After last command I get

pg_dump: [archiver (db)] connection to database "dbname" failed: FATAL: password

Error: “The query builder failed. Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user <User Name>”
Databases

I'm using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Express 2008 in Windows XP.

At first I couldn't add a datasource (the .mdf file for the database) because of a "Operating system error 32" which I seemed to have resolved by giving myself full permissions for .mdf file (by right clicking on the file and going into properties and then Security) and restarting the SQL SERVER (SQLEXPRESS) service.

The dataset for the database is in my solution explorer but when I right click on a table adapter to add a query and attempt to open up the query builder, I get the error in the title above.

Trying to save changes to a SQL database, results in “Cannot open user default database. Login failed.”
Databases

I am building an MVC application with C# as my language which is hosted on Widows 7 IIS. A call to Add a new member to the database works, but when attempting to save the change I get the following error:

Cannot open user default database. Login failed.
Login failed for user 'IIS APPPOOLmyApplication'

The SQL table was added just by adding it within VS.
