ASP.NET URL rewriting like Wikipedia

I have searched the Internet, and it looked like there are three options

The old, hard way : create some URL handler extension for IIS (I am not sure if the terminologies are correct).
.NET 3.5 way: create some sort of URL handler class with complicated Web.config modification.
The new, easy .NET 4.0 way: Call MapPageRoute in Global.asax.cs.

I tried 2 first, but failed to make it work. Then I tried 3, but also failed. After some efforts, I found that my IIS was set to use .net 2.0 app pool by default. Now I succeeded 3.

But the problem is it does not work when the URL contains something like /,, %, &.... Wh

How can I store location data in the url for all pages on my asp.net site using url rewriting?
Development Tools & Services

Using { ASP.NET 3.5 , Windows Server 2003 , IIS 6 }

I'd like to optimize my site for SEO. For the sake of example, I have a site with three pages:

/news.aspx - a page that lists news articles
/events.aspx - a page that lists events
/location.aspx - a page that determines user's geographic location

If user visits /news.aspx or /events.aspx without going to /location.aspx first, he sees unfiltered content (all news articles or all events). To narrow that down, the user goes to /location.aspx. How I Change Complete Url In asp.net with help of url rewriting?

Getting text after URL in asp.net / URL Rewriting (sort of!)
Development Tools & Services

My app is a very simple "one page" type app-
It has Default.aspx

I'm basically trying to get, for example:

www.myappurl.com/this is my text

I want to get hold of "this is my text" from the above example.
This will be displayed on the page (for now)
I didn't really want to have to use any complext url rewriting things for this...
(My hosting provider uses IIS6)

I tried using a 404 handler, but this is a bit long winded, and i'm using shared hosting, that can't set the "execute url" on custom 404 pages.

Any other ideas?

Url Rewriting in asp.net but maintaining the original url
Development Tools & Services
Page aspxHandler = (Page)PageParser.GetCompiledPageInstance(virtualPath, context.Server.MapPath(virtualPath), context);
aspxHandler.PreRenderComplete += AspxPage_PreRenderComplete;
aspxHandler.ProcessRequest(context);

When you call Page.Request.Url after this, you get the Url of the page you rewrote to

...what I'm looking for is to do a rewrite, but for Page.Request.Url to remain as the original url that was passed in. Is that possible?
