Hello, I'm
still in the development phase of my hosting site and I've hit a bit
of a creative block. I'm always advised & reminded to "go to
your customers, communicate with them, find out what it is they want
and how you can help them." So I sort of feel like its worth
giving it a shot with design as well.
I'm trying to figure out
what kind of layouts would be the most desirable for a front page and
product pages. Sometimes I check out other sites to try and get an
idea of what might look good - but I'm interested in hearing from
potential customers, or ot

Digital Trends - I’m kind of fascinated with the coverage
of Steve Jobs’ passing. I’ll watch knowledgeable people argue that
Steve was unique, crazy smart, and connected to every part of Apple
including the invention of its most successful products: the iPod,
iPad, and iPhone. These same people will then argue that Apple will
largely be unchanged with his passing. To me, that’s like arguing a
diamond ring will be unchanged after the diamond is removed. However,
Apple will be what it will be. Rather than talking about that anymore,
let’s talk about the TV Apple is rumored to be working on.

Digital Trends - By its very nature, the first year in a
new decade sets the tone for that decade. Last decade, the first year
seemed to showcase a strengthening Apple, though it was still short of
the first iPad.It also showcased the beginning of Steve Ballmer’s
run at Microsoft and the post-dot-com run up of Google. In short, the
evidence was there for the companies that would likely pull the most
interest, and there was even the beginning of a hint that Yahoo and
Palm would begin to slide, but RIM still looked unbeatable. There were
a lot of early indicators of changes to come, but not all of them were
evident yet. Let’s look at some of the early indicators from t

Digital Trends - I got my first Ultrabook in yesterday –
an Asus Zenbook UX21E-DH71 (don’t get me started on naming). This is
the 11.6-inch Intel Core i7 version, and Asus is putting itself on the
map with two screen sizes (adding a 13.3-inch), two processors (the i5
and i7), and two SSD configurations (128GB and 256GB). That boils down
to a whopping five model numbers. It sounds complex, but remember the
iPod comes in two colors, three memory sizes, and two radio
configurations, which should equal 12 configurations… but suddenly
my head hurts.

Digital Trends - WOA sounds like what you might tell a
horse when you want it to stop, but it’s also the working acronym
for Windows on ARM, which Microsoft’s Steven Sinofsky recently
detailed in a revealing blog post. I’m clearly going to have some
fun with the acronym, but the new details of the operating system have
some pretty heavy implications, too. There really are some little
nuggets in Steven’s Blog post that suggest this could be a game
changer on a lot of fronts. It might even make tablets as we know them
obsolete.

Digital Trends - This last week has been fascinating. Both
Apple and Microsoft introduced their new operating system for PCs.
Interestingly, folks are raving about Windows 8 and ranting at OS X
Mountain Lion. Both products are far from final and, of the two,
Mountain Lion has far fewer changes. Given that we don’t like
change, you’d think folks would like that. But it seems they are
comparing Mountain Lion to iOS and the last version of the MacOS, and
finding it either doesn’t change enough or changes too much. In
short, Apple may have inadvertently announced a tweener product. I
also think we are seeing the first indication that Apple can’t
function as well without
