Rails 2 + spree (0.11.0): Where is the CheckoutsController?

I was given a legacy spree app and I am supposed to edit one of the deeper checkout pages, but I can't get to it on my local because it keeps redirecting me to the shopping cart page with the flash:Can't check out, no payment methods are configured for this environmentMy database should be identical to the production database. Rails(3.2.2) Direct sign_in to the Spree(1.1.1) from non-spree controller
Programming Languages

I have integrated Spree(1.1.1) into my existing Rails 3.2.2 Application. I have home_controller in my existing application. I want to direct login the user from action in the home controller to the spree using the sign_in method as

user = Spree::User.find(params[:user_id])
sign_in(user)

but that sign_in method is in the context of Spree.

How should I use sign_in. ?

Rails Spree internals
Programming Languages

I am trying to use Spree with my RoR application. Ok, I do follow all those guides and FAQs on official website when I want to customize something. That's ok and no problem with it. One question, to which I could not find a clue -- how is that possible, that there is nothing in apps/view, apps/models folders, but it's still working? I mean, yes, I can create something in these folders and redefine the behavior of my views (actually, this is one of the ways of customization), but I really want to understand the internals. I am pretty new to Rails and got used to classic app folder structure.

Best way to customize a spree application in rails and from where i can see the existing code of the app?

Spree, Rails 3, and theming
Programming Languages

Well, I've been trying to change the default theme of spree by following this tutorial

http://blog.endpoint.com/2010/01/rails-ecommerce-spree-hooks-tutorial.html

But the homepage doesn't change at all, well since the tutorial is meant for rails 2, I'm just wondering what do I need to change from the tutorial to make it work with rails 3?

Simpler solution than using hooks is welcomed. Also while I'm at it, is there a way to undo the command you run in rails like maybe uninstalling an extension.

using Spree as a framework rather than a plattform in rails
Programming Languages

As I understand Spree is a shopping platform to build your shop.

I would like to use Spree partially and as a framework for some e-commerce features. The rest of my application has nothing to do with e-commerce and it is already running with it's own user authentication, but since spree is using devise too, it might be possible to merge it into my project.

Has anybody used spree as a framework for a own rails project?
If yes would you like to share your experiences (maybe you can list key benefits and disadvantages).
