[edubuntu] Preseed keywords for edubuntu ltsp and gnome-fallback questions?
Category : Ubuntu
I have a preseed file that has almost everything automated for a customized edubuntu 12.04 install except for the questions about using Gnome Fallback and LTSP.
I'm still figuring out dpkg, and d-i, but so far doing things like looking for 'fallback' or 'ltsp' in debconf-get-selections hasn't turned anything up (possibly because there's nothing in the --installer output... I'm not sure why t

4. dd the /dev/sda of the internal disk to the external hard drive.

[SOLVED] Soft Lockup after upgrade to 13.10
Category : Ubuntu
I recently installed 13.04 server because I could not get the keyboard to work during a usb install of 13.10. Once the system was set up and working fine, I did a do-release-upgrade to 13.10
Immediately upon reboot I began getting soft lockups. Eventually I gave up and reinstalled 13.04. I verified that it did work after reboot with no lockups, I have been running smoothly for days. Decid

[xubuntu] Recent update causes Qt Creator and Qt 5 apps to crash?
Category : Ubuntu
Xubuntu 13.10 64-bit
I made an app in Qt Creator that uses Qt5 bindings, well that app crashes, qtcreator crashes, I'm trying to get the apport to open up to see why qtcreator crashed. I don't know what updated or what overall changed, but something did.
I wonder if this is a bug?
I'm going to try Qt4, and see if that makes any difference.

[SOLVED] Strace the Login Process

I have an Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS server with no X Windows. Is there a way I can trace everything that is run from the moment a user logs in until they log out? Strace comes to mind, but something higher level that just shows each script executed would probably suffice.
The reason I'm looking to do this is because I made some change to disallow console logins, while still allowing SSH logins. I wa

At least they recognise that there is a drive. It's called PBDS DVD+-RW DH-16W 1S
