Extremely slow bundler 1.0.3 (Bundler.require) with around 100 gems in Rails 3.0.1 and Ruby 1.9.2
by tgwizard in Programming Languages

I am using Rails 3.0.1, Bundler 1.0.3 and Ruby 1.9.2p0 (2010-08-18 revision 29036). Everything was fine and fast until I started adding Devise & Omniauth. From that on everything involving initializing Bundler (calling Bundler.require as in application.rb) took ages (by means of 30-50 seconds which is a lot for e.g. calling 'rake routes').

The time is lost in 'config/application

Bundler: why does it read the gemspec on require “bundler/setup”?
by Jason Terhorst in Programming Languages

The title is the question, and here's the context that prompts it.

The Gemfile:

source "http://rubygems.org"
# Specify your gem's dependencies in the gemspec
gemspec

Here is the top of the rackup file:

require 'rubygems'
require "bundler/setup"

On running the rackup file an error is thrown:

Ruby: “gem install bundler” not installing bundler
by Netopia in Programming Languages

I'm new to rails and trying to get a demo app up and running. I've been having problems on my linux system (lubuntu, mostly clean install) getting "bundle install" to run. Even when it does, if I close my terminal and start another, it fails to run again. The cycle looks something like this:

sandbox@75bf7f3:~/railsstuff/sample_app_2nd_ed$ bundle install
ERROR: Gem bundler

I am deploying a Ruby on Rails application and part of the startup script that I have when provisioning a new box is gem update --system.

This happened to upgrade Rubygems to version 2.0. however, it looks like bundler is not compatible with this newer version of Rubygems.

git://github.com/ernie/ransack.git (at master) is not checked out. Please run `bundle install` (Bundler::GitError)

for any rails <>, bundle, or gem command.

Gem bundler is not installed, run `gem install bundler` first
by nedfunnell in Programming Languages

After updating the gemfile, I'm trying to run bundle install within the directory of a rails app I've been working on without previous erros and get "ERROR: Gem bundler is not installed, run gem install bundler first." I recently altered my PATH when installing coffee script, which I think set this all into motion. Please help.

I'm pretty new to RoR, I have a couple of working rails apps on my computer but I must have done something wrong because now I can't create new apps. The problem is when I do this:

I get this:

anarres@supakewl:~/prog/rails3/myapp$ rake db:migrate
(in /home/anarres/prog/rails3/myapp)
rake aborted!
