How to Know When It Is Time to Replace Your Figure Skate Blades on Figure Skates?
by overst33r in Sports & Fitness
Figure skaters put excessive wear on their skates, with the steel blades contacting the ice almost continuously. Sharp blades are imperative to ensure that the blade edges hold onto the ice and provide stability. Depending on how much you use your figure skates, they will require regular sharpening. The number of times you sharpen your blades before replacing them varies depending on how often you

Assigning figure size to a figure with a given handle (MATLAB)
by dawza in Programming Languages

is there a way to assign the outerposition property of a figure to a figure with a given handle?

For example, if I wanted to define a figure as say figure 1, I would use:

figure(1)
imagesc(Arrayname) % I.e. any array

I can also change the properties of a figure using the code:

How to Figure the Number of Lines of Symmetry a Figure Has
by jazzyfox in Education
A line of symmetry is another name for reflection symmetry, where one half of a shape is the reflection of the other half. The line of symmetry is the imaginary line where you can fold the shape or image and have both halves match exactly. Using some basic steps, you can quickly determine the lines of symmetry for any shape or figure.Difficulty:EasyInstructions Things You'll Need

Printing figure at same size as figure window
by Vinicios in Programming Languages

I'm trying to save a figure in PDF format such that I don't get extraneous white space around it, i.e. the figure should be the same size as the figure window.

I'm pretty sure that the way to do it is

figureNames = {'a', 'b', 'c'};
for i = 1:3
set(figure(i), 'paperpositionmode', 'auto');
print(figure(i), '-dpdf', figureNames{i})
end

Get rid of “Figure 1” in the title of the figure
by Piriya in Programming Languages

I have a figure that I want his name to be Step 2 of 3: Simulation Plot Window, but its name is: figure 2: Step 2 of 3: Simulation Plot Window.

How can I change his name to the name I want?

I don't know if it's necessary, but in the start of the code I wrote:

hFig = figure('Name','window 1','Visible','Off');
