jQuery, hover an ordered array of colors, then set that hover color on click
by Delaware in Programming Languages

I'm having a problem with a vertical menu and it's hover action. My client requires that the hover color change in order from a set of 5 colors.

An example of my problem lives in this fiddle (and below), and my script is largely influenced by a previous stackoverflow question called Keep :hover color on mouse click via Jquery.

I'd like to delay an ajax call until hover is maintained for 500ms

jQuery Hover Problem - Hover Triggers on Mouse Move
by Tmf in Coding

For reference: http://www.favsav.com/-public

You'll notice that if you hover over a list item, the meta data slides up. If you leave your mouse still on top, and then move a smidgen to the left or right, it triggers again. There's some other silliness going on if you move around

The code is pretty simple:

$('li.post').hover(function(){

The following code works successfully, except the menu slideDown only works on the second hover over my menu item. The first time it appears instantly, like no jQuery is applied at all the first time around.
