input password and :after pseudoelement text
by Ph33zy in Web Design

I have an HTML password input. I am using an :after pseudoelement on the password put field to display an error message to the user using content: "Invalid password".

However, the text that is displayed in the psuedoelement is all asterisks since it is a password field. If I change it to a text field it displays fine. Is there anyway to make the pseudoelement display straight text?<

Check if CSS pseudoElement after/before exist on an element using JS
by Raphaël Slinckx in Web Design

edit: Actually... none of that works properly!

For a non-existent pseudo-element, it returns the actual element's style, so to check a pseudo-element's background-image for existence, you need to do:

(window.getComputedStyle(emElem,'after').backgroundImage!=window.getComputedStyle(emElem).backgroundImage)&&window.getComputedStyle(emElem,'after').background

I'm trying to change the css left position of a pseudoelement :before in my css. The code I tried has no effect, if it actually possible to change the position of this object using jQuery. I have to use the :before css.

In the jsfiddle I'm trying to move the darker grey square to the right of its position by 75px: http://jsfiddle.net/7RZkX/

by cbot5000 in Javascript

I'm getting nowhere with this. I have an element, which is using a :before pseudo selector.

CSS is like this:

.initHandler:before {
width: 100%;
position: absolute;
top: 0;
bottom: 0;
left: 0;
right: 0;
display: block;
height: 110%;
z-index: 999999;
