Can zlib.crc32 or zlib.adler32 be safely used to mask primary keys in URLs?
Category : Programming Languages

In Django Design Patterns, the author recommends using zlib.crc32 to mask primary keys in URLs. After some quick testing, I noticed that crc32 produces negative integers about half the time, which seems undesirable for use in a URL. zlib.adler32 does not appear to produce negatives, but is described as "weaker" than CRC.

Is this method (either CRC or Adler-32) safe for usage in a URL a

PAK archives and zlib (zlib.dylib)
Category : Mobile Programming

I'm currently writing an iPhone app where I need to uncompress several files from .pak archive. I'm assuming libz.dylib will probably have the ability to do this but I'm having a hard time find any code on the subject.
Anyone got any example code or can point me in the right direction? Any help at all would be much appreciated.

I'm trying to archive files for a cross-platform application, and it looks like Minizip (built on zlib) is about as portable as archivers come.

When I try to run the following dummy code, however, I get a system error [my executable] has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.

Can anyone help me see how to use this library? &
