Java: client, client, (threaded) server, streams client info, JPanel created but messages(?) block start of game
by tanknique in Development Tools & Services
I am developing a small scale
client1/ client2, server (threaded)
TCP game. In trying to deal with latency issues I've realised there
were flaws in my
transmitState(). It was forcing unnecessary
info down the comms streams creating sluggishness, leaving cars in
different places in the JPanel, and was basically just wrong. So I took it
But in doing so I
Java: Server/Client -> Client/Client
by Josh Freed in Network & Servers
I want to set-up a peer to peer connection between some computers, so
users can chat and exchange files without an external Server. My first
thoughts were as follows:
I make a central ServerSocket on a
server, where all applications can connect to. This ServerSocket keeps
track of the connected sockets (clients), and gives the IP and Port of a
new connected client to all other clien
I have a Android REST Client, but no a web service implemented. What can I do to send to the client a set of images from a server?

The client uploads a image. The client is implemented

RMI calls not working when firewall present on the WindowsXP client, but fine on Windows 7 client
by Sankarsan Bose in Programming Languages
I am using the basic RMI-based client/server app shown in Java
Tutorials. I am running the server and client on different machines. I also
export the remote objects for both the server and client, and make them
available to each other.
However, there is a firewall turned on
the client side and so the RMI calls fail (from client to server or server
back to client). Also, when
DAL/BLL and Client/Server: Should the client use BLL or DAL objects for presentation? Or maybe another layer (data transfer object?)
by snackie in Coding
I'm writing a client/server system. The server has a DAL/BLL design.
The client is responsible for presenting the data objects and providing
dialogs and wizard to allow the user to update these objects (i.e.
adding/editing a user).
Initially I thought I'll just make the
DAL objects have a universal data provider object so they can be used by
the client as well as the server. For

Revisit Client/Server Model. Should the client interact with the database directly?
by avi in Programming Languages
I thought about it and technically you could use databases tables and
temporary tables/database views directly from a client.
wouldn't it be more efficient for the client to interact directly
the database as opposed to using a tiered architecture?

Are there any libraries/frameworks in Java that help do this

RPC to send varialbe from server to client on client joing game Unity
by Tristan in Network & Servers
Ok so I have this network script that works really well except for when
I want to spawn a player at a different location. Im basing location on the
number of current players connect. Right now the variable is updating right
on the server so that good. But when a client joins the game, the player
count for him is 0. I want to set that to the current number of players
connected from the server va
Google Maps JS API v3 - Do I need to include the CLIENT parameter on client side requests?
by markku in Development Tools & Services
I'm working on a client's website that has retail stores. This client
has a Google API for Business account, CLIENT id and currently uses the web
services API in the backend of their website.
We are now adding
the store locator and want to embed the Client-side JS API [v3] into the
public facing [for profit] website. We will be embedding the store locator
in the pages using this sc
