by juma in Programming Languages

Faster loading ListView, faster than the Viewholder method
by VirtualLarry in Programming Languages

When inflating views for a listView, is it better to have all textViews without android:text in the .xml file and how much does that affects the speed? What about ViewStubs, would that be even faster?

When inflating a LinearLayout with 8 textViews without android:text and with android:text="@string/abc", does that change anything ?
note that i am reusing views, so maybe only 1

Race car game, car moving faster on faster computer
by skh in Web Design

I understand why it does that but I don't really have any idea of how to prevent that. So the scenario is, every frame I move the car by a certain of predefined pixels. What happens is when I go on slow or faster computer... well I get less or more frames per seconds so the car moves either slower or faster. I was wondering how I could prevent that.

I suspect that I would have

Jquery autocomplete: Which is faster? (A) php/mysql/jquery or (B) html/json/jquery? I have two scripts, which is better/faster?
by sandorski in PHP

I have two autocomplete scripts, one of them makes use of (A) php/mysql/html/jquery and the other makes use of (B) html/jquery/json.

I know that since they're using different technologies they might not be able to be compared directly, but from your own experience and from what you can gather from the pages these scripts are located on,

reading from MySQL is faster or reading from a file is faster?
by Engr62 in Programming Languages

I got a doubt I have seen reading mysql data is slower in case of large tables...I have done lots of optimization but cant get through..

what I am thinking is will it give a better speed if I store data in a piece of file??

off course each data will be a separate file. so millions of data = millions of file. I agree it will consume the disk space... but w

How can I do this in a faster way?
by Meski in Programming Languages

I have a script that imports CSV files. What ends up in my database is, among other things, a list of customers and a list of addresses. I have a table called customer and another called address, where address has a customer_id.

One thing that's important to me is not to have any duplicate rows. Therefore, each time I import an add
