Conditional linking of sections in a program using linker command file input to a linker?
by Mark W in Programming Languages

Is it possible to link conditionally(like an if..else) by using the linker command file?

Suppose i am having two two conditions and i need to link two different section by checking that condition in the linker command file while linking?

I am using a custom linker (star core - a flavor of gcc) of Freescale.

Getting a GCC Linker Error: Linker input file unused because linking is not done

I am beginner when it comes to writing makefiles but I am having this linking issue with my program. Basically I am getting the above error when I try to build it on a remote machine.
Here is my makefile:

How to implement OVERLAY in i386 linker via linker scripts
by denis280 in Programming Languages

I am trying to link the Overlay example from the GDB reference manual. The example is targeting the d10v processor (not familiar with it) but I would like to demonstrate that the debugger works with overlays by compiling the example for the x86_64 or i386 architecture.

I tried importing the following section into the linker script. I first extracted the linker script using a techniq

linker error - linker input file unused because linking not done. then undefined reference to a function in that file
by George H. in Programming Languages

Ok so I'm having trouble with my linking of files.
Basically, my program works:
the main program, is gen1
gen1 - recieves input sends to str2value for processing, outputs resaults
str2value, brakes input into tokens using "tokenizer" deterines what sort of processing to do to each token, and passes them off to str2num, or str2cmd. then returns a array of the resualts

Difference between Delphi linker and C++ linker
by mysql in C & C++ & C#

I come from a Delphi world where importing a DLL function statically is pretty easy. All you need to do is specify the function name and the module like this:

function GetTickCount : DWORD; stdcall; external 'Kernel32.dll';

Why in C++ must I use kernel32.lib in order to import the function? Why can't I simply tell the linker to import that functi

Does .NET have a linker?
by Germany in Programming Languages

From Jon Skeet's blog:

What does the following comment mean?

// The line below only works when linked rather than
// referenced, as otherwise you need a cast.
// The compiler treats it as if it both takes and
// returns a dynamic value.
string value = com.MakeMeDynamic(10);

I understand what referencing an

obfuscator and linker for .net
by Jaleel in Programming Languages

I am in need to develop a desktop application which will be quite light-weight but dont want my end users to install full-fledged .net framerwork to run that. I've done a lot of research and my findings are:
1. using some .net linkers, i can achieve this goal. some of them are salamander, spoon.net(not 100% sure about its functionality), rustemsoft etc.
2. I am coming across two tools

Qt Linker Errors
by wraith in Programming Languages

I've been trying to get Qt working (QCreator, QIde and now VS2008).

I have sorted out a ton of issues already, but I am now faced with the following build errors, and frankly I'm out of ideas.

Error 1 error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: void __thiscall FileVisitor::processFileList(class QStringList)" (?processFileList@FileVisitor@@QAEXVQStringList@@
