I tried to install mysql in my local system. When i tried to connect it its showing an error Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' Dont know how its happen. can any one help to solve it

I'm interested in running Django on an async framework like Concurrence or gevent. Both frameworks come with its own async MySQL driver.


Problem is Django only officially supports MySQLdb. What do I need to do to make Django work with the MySQL drivers that come with gevent or Concurrence?

I just installed MySQL 5.5.27 on WinXP. When I open a command prompt (Start -> Run, and type "cmd"), I can access MySQL by running "mysql -u root -p". However, when I open a Cygwin terminal and try the same thing, I get this error


$ mysql -u root -p

I'm at my wits end with this one. Everything else on this new live site works flawlessly except this one issue. I can't create new customer accounts without it returning this error. I've tried everything I can think of in my own wheelhouse. Any suggestions? Magento forums are a wash for support.

I tried restarting the Mysql server but its not working for me. I am sure the server is running and the permissions on the folder /var/lib/mysql/ are correct (777).


When i tried to open the file mysql.sock, its giving me an error saying the file may be corrupt.


Please help me log in to DB. Thanks in advance.

I'm currently stuck on what is (I hope a newby) problem with a rails project (this is my first rails project and so I apologise if I miss anything crucial).
