How to display a 'your payment is processing…' page to a user while processing the transaction in the background?
by Kevin in Programming Languages

I run an online store that experiences very spiky traffic. Recently, the entire system came to a standstill during a big sale event because the payment gateway had some kind of problem, and responses from their API took 17 seconds to respond instead of the normal 2-3 seconds. There were hundreds of people attempting purchases simultaneously. This caused all of the web worker threads in every

Configure Notepad++ to execute with Processing and display errors from processing
by Thaweesak Suksuwan in Programming Languages

This is the IDE that we are using in my course http://processing.org/
However it's very buggy with my computer and I love to use Notepad++

How can I make it so that when I press execute in Notepad++, it will compile the file in processing automatically and if there's any errors, it will be ported into Notepad++ showing the line with the error and error message?

Processing partitions takes longer than processing entire database
by Gilmar Souza Jr. in Databases

I have a Tabular Model cube where I have split the tables into partitions to make processing more efficient.

When I Process Full the daily partition only, it takes 2h 45m. However, when I Process Full the entire database (that includes daily and historical data), it takes 1h 10m.

Anyone know what can be causing this?

Thanks!

Point-wise image processing - Histogram Equalization (Processing)
by Massachusetts in Programming Languages

I'm really confused with this technique.. I know that a histogram is the frequency for every value (I am working on gray-scale images) and I've produced a method to do that:

int[] populateHist (PImage x)
{
x.loadPixels();
int[] out = new int[256];
for (int i = 0; i < x.pixels.length; i++)
{
out[(int)red(x.pixels[i])]++;
}

Importing processing.webgl for 3d canvas when using processing.js in pure javascript
by Jesper in Javascript

I would like to utilize some of the 3D shapes in processing.js.

I see that if I was using the processing 'language' I could just

import processing.webgl.*

And the compiler would ignore the import statement.

However I am currently coding in pure javascript and it isn't clear to me how to do this.

Can any one help?

C# .NET workload processing a'la job queue processing examples ideas?
by Janko in Programming Languages

As part of my constant learning curve into what you can do to make apps scale better, I am currently trying to get a direction to go with queuing, i.e. job queuing or workload processing whichever phrase you like.

In the distant past I used IBM MQ/Series - it worked for a financial app but quite heavy if I remember.

I know of MSMQ, and I have also heard of quite a few ot

Difference Between Real Time Processing & Batch Processing
by Sivavt in Computers
Real-time processing is data processing that occurs as the user enters in the data or a command. Batch processing involves the execution of jobs at the same time. The main difference is that administrators can postpone batch processes, while real-time processes must occur as soon as possible. Time FrameThe time between when the user inputs the data into the computer and when the computer perfor

Lisp is for List Processing. Is there a language for Tree Processing?
by Nothingness in Programming Languages

The name for Lisp derives from LISt Processing. Linked lists are the major data structure of Lisp languages, and Lisp source code is itself made up of lists. As a result, Lisp programs can manipulate source code as a data structure (this is known as homoiconicity).

However, a list is by definition a sequential construct. This encourages us to solve problems using sequential language

Processing a tab delimited file with shell script processing
by vyazkov in Network & Servers

normally I would use Python/Perl for this procedure but I find myself (for political reasons) having to pull this off using a bash shell.

I have a large tab delimited file that contains six columns and the second column is integers. I need to shell script a solution that would verify that the file indeed is six columns and that the second column is indeed integers. I am assuming tha
