I hope this helps . I'm trying to show the filters selected from a checkbox. First I'm creating an array of values selected from the checkboxes and I'm trying to append to a string , You should access one element by its index.
code :
if(j == termsName.length - 1){
  topLabel += termsName[j];
}else{
  topLabel += termsName[j]+', ';
}
if(termsName.length){
   topLabel += termsName.join(',')
}

hop of those help? Ooh dude I think I have it.
Your approach is fine but I think I see where the error occurs. As far as I can see, you add an enemyBlock each time you loop to the one enemyBlockMC - Then you add that enemyBlockMC to the array (e.g.) 5 times.
code :
   for(var i:int =0; i<= count - 1; i++){
            // add class to MC
/*
Move this line of code into the for loop, creating a new version every time.
*/
enemyBlockMC = new MovieClip;
/*
Also move this into your loop, ensuring you make a new EnemyBlock() every time
*/
var enemyBlock:MovieClip = new EnemyBlock(); // assign EnemyBlock class to enemyBlock
enemyBlockMC.addChild(enemyBlock);
// randomize position
enemyBlock.x = Math.round(Math.random()*mapWidth);
enemyBlock.y = Math.round(Math.random()*mapHeight);
// set motion
enemyBlock.movement = 5;

// add MC to array
enemyArray.push(enemyBlockMC);
}

wish help you to fix your issue There are a lot of things going on here that you'll need to fix. First, it looks like you're using Angular but its not included on the file. If you were going the Angular route you would have something that looks like:
code :
<!-- HTML -->
<button ng-click="getThingToLearn()" type="button">Learn Something</button>
<p>{{thingToLearn}}</p>

// JS
$scope.thingToLearn = '';
$scope.getThingToLearn = function () {
    $scope.thingToLearn = $scope.ThingsYouWouldntLearn[Math.floor(Math.random()*$scope.ThingsYouWouldntLearn.length)];
}
<!-- HTML -->
<button onclick="getThingToLearn()" type="button">Learn Something</button>
<p id="thingToLearn"></p>

// JS
var getThingToLearn = function () {
    var thingToLearn = document.getElementById('thingToLearn');
    thingToLearn.textContent = ThingsYouWouldntLearn[Math.floor(Math.random()...
};

will help you You could just splice the selected image out of your array, then it won't be available on the next iteration:
code :
function getRandomImage(imgAr, path) {
    path = path || 'images/portfolio/'; // default path here
    var num = Math.floor( Math.random() * imgAr.length );
    var img = imgAr[ num ];
    // remove the selected image
    imgAr.splice(num, 1);
    var imgStr = '<img src="' + path + img + '" alt = "">';
    document.write(imgStr); document.close();
}

it should still fix some issue getElementsByName return a list, you should get the first element of the list by using:
code :
document.getElementsByName("first_name")[0].value

I hope this helps . Why are you going for a looping when already you have the Array? Just allocate your array with JSON response
