.Net Core Web API with Client Certificate Authentication

.Net Core Web API with Client Certificate Authentication

Does that help For proper certificate authentication using the ASP.NET Core authentication stack, you can also check out idunno.Authentication.Certificate by Barry Dorrans himself. It allows you to enable certificate authentication for your application and handles it like any other authentication scheme, so you can keep actual certificate-based logic out of your business logic.

like below fixes the issue You can debug ssl on the server-side by adding (somewhere in Glassfish) system properties:
code :
-Djavax.net.debug=all
openssl s_client -connect host:port -debug -msg
...
Acceptable client certificate CA names
/C=PL/O=company/OU=xx/CN=host/emailAddress=email@example.com
/C=PL/O=company/OU=xx/CN=ca/emailAddress=email@example.com
---
SSL handshake has read 2536 bytes and written 116 bytes

To fix this issue The KeyChain is designed to protect your private keys.
Therefore you can get a reference to a private key and use that private key within your app for authentication, encryption, ... but you never get access to the actual private key data.

around this issue The exact problem is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2801679.
After December 2012 Windows update a lot of certificates were added to AuthRoot store. So we have to remove them to solve the problem.
code :
Get-ChildItem -Path Registry::HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\AuthRoot\Certificates | Where-Object {$_.Name -notlike "*\<YOUR_CERTIFICATE_THUMBPRINT>"} | Remove-Item
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted .\Startup.ps1
exit /b %errorlevel%
<WebRole name="Web">
  <Startup>
    <Task commandLine="Startup.cmd" executionContext="elevated" taskType="simple" />
  </Startup>
  <!-- ... ->
</WebRole>

seems to work fine It sounds like what you're describing is using client-side certificate authentication in SSL/TLS. In that case, the client certificate you're using definitely needs to have a private key, which is necessary in order to complete the SSL/TLS handshake.
Notice that when configuring the client, you need to tell the binding to use client certificates for transport authentication:
code :
<security mode="Transport">
    <transport clientCredentialType="Certificate" />
</security>
<behaviors>
  <endpointBehaviors>
    <behavior name="ClientCertificateBehavior">
      <clientCredentials>
        <clientCertificate findValue="CN=clienttempcert" storeLocation="CurrentUser"
          storeName="My" x509FindType="FindBySubjectDistinguishedName" />
      </clientCredentials>
    </behavior>
  </endpointBehaviors>
</behaviors>

will help you If someone needs the answer, I post it. The comment in default configuration file (default-ssl.conf) lead me in the good track :
code :
    #   Certificate Authority (CA):
    # Set the CA certificate verification path where to find CA
    # certificates for client authentication or alternatively one
    # huge file containing all of them (file must be PEM encoded)
