this one helps. I have the following layout set out in XML which is set as the content view of a dialog box what I'm trying to do is center the two buttons so they appear in the center of the table row they are in, but no matter what i do to them they stay on the left. Is this something to do with it being inside a dialog? How can i fix it? , You could play around with layout_weight. For example:
code :

make text on half transparent overlay opaque (also alignment)

I hope this helps you . Center text vertically by adding a line height, but the image would need a fixed height.
For the overlay, make the hover CSS completely visible, but the background on the original overlay transparent.
code :
.img-overlay h3 {
    opacity: 1;
    color: rgba(255,254,254,1);
    text-align: center;
    vertical-align: middle;
    height: 100%;
    line-height: 200px;
.img-overlay {
    background-color: rgba(0,0,0,.700);
    bottom: 0px;
    top: 0px;
    opacity: 0;
    filter: alpha(opacity=0);
    position: absolute;
    width: 100%;
    z-index: 1000;
    transition: opacity 0.3s;
    -webkit-transition: opacity 0.3s;
.bucket:hover .img-overlay {
    filter: alpha(opacity=75);

it should still fix some issue If you want to have a AlertDialog whit transparent window you can use from DialogFragment and set:
code :
    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        setStyle(DialogFragment.STYLE_NORMAL, R.style.NewDialog);

@color/dark

@color/lighgray2

@android:color/transparent

13dp

bold

250dp

center

20dp

public class TVShowFragment extends DialogFragment {

    RecyclerView rv;
    TellListAdaptor adapter;
    List<TellListModel> tellListModels = new ArrayList<>();

    public static String CustomerName;
    public static boolean isCustomer;
    private TellListModel tellListModel;
    int newMsgPosition;

    public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {

        View rootView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.your_custom_layout, container);
        rv = rootView.findViewById(R.id.mRecyerID);
        rv.setLayoutManager(new LinearLayoutManager(this.getActivity()));

        adapter = new TellListAdaptor(tellListModels);

            if (FragmentRoute.OperatorPhons.size() != 0) {
                for (int i = 0; i < FragmentRoute.OperatorPhons.size(); i++) {
                    tellListModel = new TellListModel(FragmentRoute.OperatorPhons.get(i), CustomerName);
                    newMsgPosition = tellListModels.size() - 1;

        this.getDialog().setTitle( CustomerName);

        TextView textView = getDialog().findViewById(android.R.id.title);

        return rootView;

    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        setStyle(DialogFragment.STYLE_NORMAL, R.style.NewDialog);

final TVShowFragment tv = new TVShowFragment();
                    tv.show(MainActivity.fm, "TV_tag");
