may help you .
I've been reading this section about static methods passing arrays by call-by-reference.
code :
    public void method(String arg, String[] result) ...
    public String[] method(String arg) ...
In php, should I return false, null, or an empty array in a method that would usually return an array?

I wish this helpful for you An array is a collection of things. An empty array would signal that "everything went fine, there just isn't anything in that collection". If you actually want to signal an error, you should return false. Since PHP is dynamically typed, it's easy to check the return value either strictly or loosely, depending on what you need:
code :
$result = getCollection();

if (!$result) // $result was false or empty, either way nothing useful
if ($result === false) // an actual error occurred
if ($result) // we have an array with content
PHP objects inside arrays (HOW TO: If array key is 0, return 0. Else if array key is 2, return 2. BASIC LOGIC)

this one helps. What I'm trying to do: , I think the problem is here:
code :
foreach($array as $single) {
    $array = $single->name . ',';
}
$names = array();
foreach ($array as $single) {
    $names[] = $single->name;
}
echo implode(', ', $names);
Why function can return array of chars, but can't return array of other types?

I wish did fix the issue. Litteral strings are special animals in C++. They behave as is they were pointers to static const arrays. As you function is declared to return a const char * you get a perfectly defined behaviour.
But the same can be done with any other array, provided it is static:
code :
const int * myintfunc() {
    static const int arr[] = { 1, 2, 3};
    return arr;
}
Is there any way we can check if relation value exists then return array else return blank array
