Force update in Hibernate

around this issue How can I force Hibernate to update an entity instance even if the entity is not dirty? I'm using Hibernate 3.3.2 GA, Hibernate Annotations and Hibernate EntityManager btw. I really want Hibernate to execute the generic UPDATE statement even if no property on the entity has changed. , ok - found it myself. This does the trick:

I hope this helps you . When you work with MyEclipse, just add the HibernateTemplate that's coming with MyEclipse

With these it helps I never did that before, but a little hack, would maybe do the job.
There is a Persistable interface for the entities. It has a method boolean isNew() that when implemented will be used to "assess" if the Entity is new or not in the database. Base on that decision, EntityManager should decide to call .merge() or .persist() on that entity, after You call .save() from Repository.

Hope that helps There are so many things that are wrong in this example:
EAGER fetching on the @OneToManycollection is almost always a bad idea. Unidirectional collections are also bad, use the bidirectional one. If you get this exception, most likely you cleared all the elements and re-added back the ones that you want to be retained.

will help you I started Spring Boot project connected to MySQL database. In my application.properties I put spring.jpa.hibernate.ddl-auto = update but still after I update the table name in the entity, a new Table is created, and after I update the column name of property a new column is created.
