will be helpful for those in need Since I didn't get the expected answer on my last question I'll try to simplify and narrow my question: , How about this:
code :
<% form_for :category, :url => { :action => "show" } do |f| %>
  <%= select_tag :id, options_from_collection_for_select(Category.find(:all), :id, :name),
  { :onchange => "this.form.submit();"} %>
<% end %>
@category = Category.find(params[:id])

Any of those help Have you looked at the AjaxHelper class and it's extensions? That seems like what you're looking for. You could look at the source for the AjaxExtensions.cs file and then create your own AjaxHelper extensions following the same pattern.
Yes, HtmlHelper (and AjaxHelper) functions output Html strings via C# code executed on the server.

hop of those help? Your question is a little vague, but this might help.
Assuming you run this code on document ready:
code :
$(function() {
  if ($("div img").width() > $("div").width()){
    $("div img").css({"width": $("div").width()});
$("#some_div").load("/html_fragment_with_cool_image", function() {
  if ($("div img").width() > $("div").width()){
    $("div img").css({"width": $("div").width()});
function doDivStuff() {
  if ($("div img").width() > $("div").width()){
    $("div img").css({"width": $("div").width()});
$(function() {

$("#some_div").load("/html_fragment_with_cool_image", function() {

ajaxified file upload in jsf

By : Kunal Gautam

like below fixes the issue It is not possible to upload files by first version of XMLHttpRequest (which is the core Ajax request controller object in JavaScript). The second version of XMLHttpRequest supports it, but this is not implemented by (and has currently low browser support).
As you seem to be using PrimeFaces already, why don't you just use its own component? The single upload or even the auto upload examples should do it for you (don't forget to remove the MyFaces extensions filter from the web.xml after adding the PrimeFaces' file upload filter!). The PrimeFaces' will automatically utilize XHR2 file upload whenever available.

Downloading to CSV on an ajaxified page

I wish this helpful for you I didn't quite understand everything you said, but when I've done downloads from AJAX controls in the past, I've had to set the download button as a full postback control. You can do this from the aspx/ascx, or you can do it programmatically like this:
code :
        // The export button needs to do a full postback, regardless of whether we're in an
        // AJAX UpdatePanel.
        var updatePanel = GetParentUpdatePanel();
        if (updatePanel != null)
            var scriptManager = ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page);
            if (scriptManager != null)

    private UpdatePanel GetParentUpdatePanel()
        Control parent = Parent;
        while (parent != null)
            if (parent is UpdatePanel)
                return (UpdatePanel) parent;
            parent = parent.Parent;
        return null;
