Sleep function uses server resources?

I wish did fix the issue. While a process is sleeping it will not consume CPU time, but the process' working set still requires physical memory and/or pagefile to support that process. In other words, the PHP interpreter process needs to keep running. So long as your server has enough RAM this shouldn't be a problem though.

PHP Sleep Function (Email Throttling) Freezes Entire Server

help you fix your problem Cronjobs cannot be executed secondly, only minutely. */1 in the minute field will run the script every 1 minute, but you cannot get any more granular than that.
There is nothing wrong with the sleep, but do not run the command from your browser. The reason you are locking up the domain is because your Apache thread is held up on the script with sleep. Until it finishes, your requests will be blocked and queued.
code :
5 0 * * * user php -f /path/to/file &

Does adding sleep() to a loop alleviate server resources?

around this issue In a nutshell, yes, but don't worry about it.
While sleep is executing, CPU processing of your script virtually stops. So yes, it will alleviate processing resources. (The script is still in memory, so those resources are still used, but that shouldn't be a problem on a modern machine.)
code :
nano crontab -e
* * * * *   /usr/bin/nice -n 12 php -q /path/file.php
chmod ug+rwx /path/file.php
#!/usr/bin/php5
<?php

How to configure gunicorn and gevent for sleep function inside a generator for Flask Server-Sent Events?

this one helps. After two days of trying out so many things, it turned out that nginx configuration had to be changed for Server-Sent Events.
Merely adding these three lines did the trick:
code :
proxy_set_header Connection '';
proxy_http_version 1.1;
chunked_transfer_encoding off;

I hope this helps . Thread.sleep() makes the current thread sleep. This is spelled out in the Javadoc:

I wish this helpful for you Windows doesn't have the sleep function. Instead, it has Sleep, which takes the number of milliseconds to sleep:
