around this issue I solved this problem by changing the sql statement. Instead of running hibernate update for each record, I made a cascade change and put the business rule before making the change.

I wish this help you I solved the problem. In case anyone else had the same issue here is how I did it.Basically, in the dao layer, it was using Spring transaction management and at other locations it was using hibernate transaction management. Mixin

this one helps. Most Criteria are actually instances of CriteriaImpl. If you cast your Criteria to CriteriaImpl and get the iterator for orders, you can remove them that way.
